We welcomed the following filmmakers at screenings of their films in the Festival in Auckland.

Costa Botes

Director/Producer/Photography/Editor, Daytime Tiger
An independent filmmaker since the early 80s, Costa Botes co-wrote and co-directed the infamous mockumentary Forgotten Silver. More recently he has directed documentaries such as Struggle No More and produced Lost in Wonderland.

Annie Goldson

Director/Producer/Editor, Brother Number One
Annie Goldson has been making documentaries for the last 20 years, including Punitive Damage and An Island Calling. She is currently a Professor at the Department of Film, Television and Media Studies at the University of Auckland.

Florian Habicht

Director/Screenplay, Love Story
Since graduating from the Elam School of Fine Arts, Florian Habicht has been an inventive Festival favourite, beginning with his no-budget digital feature Woodenhead in 2004. Love Story is his fifth feature to premiere at the Festival.

Daniel Henshall

Actor, Snowtown
Daniel Henshall graduated from the Actors Centre Australia fulltime acting course in 2006. He has worked steadily in television and theatre, including such shows as All Saints, Rescue and Out of the Blue. Snowtown is his first feature role.

Justin Kurzel

Director, Snowtown
Justin Kurzel graduated from the Victorian College of Arts in 2004. His graduation film Blue Tongue won several awards and screened at several international Film Festivals, including New York and Cannes. Snowtown is his debut feature.

Park Kiyong

Director/Producer/Photography/Editor, Moving
Park Kiyong graduated from the Korean Academy of Film Arts in 1987 and later became its executive director (2001–09). He directed the features Motel Cactus and Camel(s) and is currently a visiting fellow at the University of Auckland.

Sally Rowe

Sally Rowe Director/Producer/Photography, A Matter of Taste: Serving Up Paul Liebrandt
New Zealand born Sally Rowe has been working in film since 1992. She has worked as script supervisor in the US on numerous independent features and television shows such as Chapelle’s Show. A Matter of Taste is her directorial debut.

Morgan Spurlock

Director/Screenplay, POM Wonderful Presents: The Greatest Movie Ever Sold
New York based director Morgan Spurlock won Best Directing honours at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival for his first film Super Size Me. Since then he has been busy with multiple film and television projects, including the FX series 30 Days.

Ti West

Director/Producer/Screenplay/Editor, The Innkeepers
Starting with The Roost in 2005, Ti West has been independently producing his own brand of 70s-style chillers that are at once wholly original but also tributes to the genre’s inglorious past. The Innkeepers is his fourth feature.

Annie Collins

Editor, Mana Waka
Annie Collins has been working as an editor for over thirty years on films as varied as The Neglected Miracle and Scarfies. During the 80s she collaborated with Merata Mita on three landmark documentaries: The Bridge, Patu! and Mana Waka.
